We are adopting as our charity Cancer Research UK. The South Shields Committee/Support Group is the oldest in the UK having been started on the 28 th April 1936 as the South Shields Committee of the North of England Council of the British Empire Cancer Campaign. This year it celebrates its 90 th anniversary. Please refer to the charity section for details of the work being carried out in Newcastle. All monies raised remains locally and CRUK also provides funding for the Sir Bobby Robson Centre in Newcastle.
